mavis had passed along what john had told her, but not he wonders if there hasn't been more to the story, conveniently left out.

he hopes not. john, despite his flaws, has been reliably honest in their prior dealings. and now things are even more complicated and enmeshed. )

That's fortunate, given how things ended for some of the others. ( he hadn't seen the moot hall tableu, but he'd felt the ripples. was it terrible that on some level he wanted to know how they'd managed it? )

And thank you. I'm less concerned for myself than I am for him. ( there were monster attacks and then there was that. and, for his part, aristaeus does wonder just how much of it had been reactionary and how much had been deliberate. ) You didn't know him, did you? Before.
